Prevention response protocols are also in place to keep situations from worsening and divert a family from becoming more deeply involved with the child welfare system.
Supports are offerred to include education to prevent child abuse and neglect of children in their homes, child day care, referrals for counseling and other services aimed at building parental capacities to protect.
For severe instances of physical or sexual abuse, the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) may be utilized to conduct forensic interviews in a comfortable, child-friendly environment where children feel safe to share about their alleged abusive experience.
